Where Darkness Has a Face

From the depths of shadow and steel, something ancient stirs. Shadow Spirit is an original mixed media assemblage artwork — a richly layered, three-dimensional canvas where a ram skull deity rises from dark metal, midnight blooms, and the quiet power of forces unseen.

This is not a print. This is a one-of-a-kind original artwork, handcrafted with intention and shadow.

What You'll See Up Close

  • A large ram skull figure as the commanding centerpiece — ancient, powerful, otherworldly
  • Two ethereal angel/guardian figures flanking the skull within a gothic arch frame
  • A crescent moon glowing softly to the left
  • Steampunk gears woven into the dark metal composition
  • A large dimensional feather cascading at the lower left
  • Deep midnight blue roses and dark blooms crowning the top
  • A lapis lazuli blue triangle gemstone anchoring the base — a deep blue grounding stone
  • Every surface unified in a dramatic palette of gunmetal, charcoal, midnight blue, and silver

Materials Used

  • Ceramic resin and plastic sculptural elements
  • Metal findings, clay and dark industrial embellishments
  • Silk flowers, fabric and crystals
  • Lapis lazuli blue triangle gemstone
  • Texture paste, acrylic paint, and acrylic inks
  • Pigment waxes and metallic foils
  • Mounted on a wrapped canvas — ready to hang, no framing needed
  • Sawtooth hanger included on the back for easy hanging

Product FAQs

How can I style dark fantasy wall art in my home?

Pair Shadow Spirit with dark wood, silver accessories, and midnight blue or charcoal fabrics. Its ram skull centerpiece and gothic arch suit a dramatic reading nook, study, or bedroom. For contrast, display it against a pale gray wall so the darker sculptural details stand out.

What lighting works best for this dark fantasy artwork?

Use a softly angled LED picture light or nearby lamp to highlight Shadow Spirit’s raised textures, silver accents, and midnight blue details. Lighting from the side creates gentle shadows that show the depth of the assemblage. Avoid direct sunlight and keep hot bulbs away from the canvas.

How do I clean the skull, flowers, and intricate details?

Use a soft, dry artist’s brush to gently remove dust around the skull, guardian figures, and silk flowers. Avoid water, cleaning sprays, and metal polish, which could affect the decorative finishes. Hold the canvas by its edges when moving it.

Can I request similar gothic skull art in different colors?

Yes! Email me at paula@paulamcnulty.com with your preferred colors and the details you like about Shadow Spirit. We can discuss a similar mixed media assemblage with intentional, subtle differences so that each artwork remains an original.
